Amina, Physio with Amina ๐Ÿ™‚

In-person Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps people restore, maintain, and maximize strength, balance, endurance, and functional mobility. Physiotherapists work to assess, diagnose, and treat symptoms of illness, injury, and disability. Physiotherapy includes rehabilitation, prevention of injury, and health promotion.

Virtual Physiotherapy

Virtual physiotherapy uses electronic devices to deliver physiotherapy services from a distance. A virtual physiotherapy initial assessment is similar to an in-person session, where Amina will go through the same process as an initial in-person assessment, only done virtually. All you will need is a device (tablet, smartphone, laptop, or desktop), an internet connection, and space to move around!

Complimentary Discovery Call (Virtual Consult)

Amina will call or set up a virtual consultation with you. Are you not sure what to expect with physiotherapy? Do you have questions before booking your first appointment? Book a Complimentary Discovery call to speak to Amina first!

Amina has always been passionate about sports, health, and fitness. She grew up playing competitive ice hockey and soccer and knew she wanted to combine her passions for sport and health, leading her to a physiotherapy career.

Amina completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. She then worked as a physiotherapy assistant in retirement homes and nursing homes for one year before completing her Masterโ€™s in Physical Therapy. Amina has a unique experience working in a hospital setting, both on a post-surgical and medicine floor in two different hospitals, alongside working in private clinics and home care.

She has continued to challenge herself with continuing education courses, completing the Level 1 Manual Therapy (Canadian Physiotherapy Association) and the Part A Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT) (McKenzie Institute of Canada) courses. Amina is currently in the process of completing certification for acupuncture/dry needling. From a scholarship perspective, Amina published an article focusing on community-based rehabilitation in settings affected by armed conflict, natural disaster, or mass displacement.

Amina is also a certified personal trainer passionate about health promotion and geriatric health. Amina has played ice hockey for over twenty years, soccer for twenty-four years, and softball for six years. She is a mentor for youth and a sports enthusiast who believes in the power of sports for womenโ€™s empowerment. Her future aspirations include getting more Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and Muslim women into physiotherapy through mentorship programs.

Outside of work, you will find Amina either playing soccer, ice hockey, or softball, teaching young children how to ice skate, baking, skating on outdoor rinks or trails, or watching the Toronto Maple Leafs!
